Overview of your policy
An in-tele-box fitted to your car measures how you drive. It helps you to monitor your driving behaviour throughout the course of your policy. If you drive safely throughout the year you could see a reduction in your renewal price.
The black box fitted to your car records how you drive. To ‘drive like a girl’ you need to:
- Drive smoothly and generally avoid rapid acceleration and harsh braking, unless it is an emergency
- Drive at a speed appropriate for the road you are on
- Avoid regular driving at night, especially between the times of 11pm and 4am
- Take breaks on long journeys.
If you log into Your Portal, you will be able to see your drive like a girl score and the rewards you are earning.
Each of your individual journeys will also be rated by colour. Here’s what the coloured dots mean:
- Pink is the best rating you can get – it means you have driven ‘like a girl’.
- A white dot is a neutral rating. Aim for pink dots instead to get a higher score.
- A blue dot means you haven’t driven like a girl on that journey. You should try and avoid blue dots if you want to get the maximum rewards available and the chance to save again at renewal.
Furthermore, there is no mileage limit if your policy was bought before 1st June 2016 – you can drive as many miles as you like. However, we need to make sure all your details are up-to-date, so if during your policy you think you are going to exceed the number of miles you told us you’d drive when you took out your policy, just give us a call on 0330 022 0200 to let us know.
