Why can I not pay by monthly instalments?

There are a number of reasons why you may not be offered the option to pay by monthly instalments. For example, it could be due to the cost of the annual premium, or due to one or several of the details you have provided, or it could be because the policyholder is under 18 at the policy start date. If you suspect this is the result of an error, please complete the quote form again, or call Customer Service on 0330 022 0200. Please note that Premium Credit reserve the right to decline any applicant who does not meet their minimum criteria.

How much is the excess on my policy?

The total excess on each policy depends on the compulsory excess plus any voluntary excess selected during the quote process. Please see your Car Insurance Schedule on Your Portal for your total excess amount.

I am a university student, which address should I have on my policy?

You must provide the address where the car is usually kept overnight. If you will be taking your car to university, you will need to provide us with your university address. If your car will be kept at home, you will need your home address on the policy. You can change the address on your policy at any time by talking to us on Live Chat via Your Portal, emailing service@drivelikeagirl.com or calling us on 0330 022 0200. Please be aware that this may result in a change in your premium, and you will be required to pay a £25 fee for each address change.

Can my insurance cover start straight away?

Yes – when you buy a policy you say the date you would like the policy to start. If you were to select today’s date you’d be covered straight away – you don’t have to wait for the box to be fitted.

Who is drive like a girl for?

Female drivers aged between 17-25 may benefit most by chosing drive like a girl as this is the group that will see the biggest price increase as a result of the Gender Ruling. However, as long as you match the eligibility criteria, anyone can buy a drive like a girl policy. With regard to the drive like a girl discount, it’s not just for girls either, anyone who ‘drives like a girl’ could benefit from a discount at three months and further savings at renewal.

What is the Gender Directive?

The Gender Directive is a law that was introduced in 2012 which states that car insurance prices must be ‘gender-neutral’, so insurers must offer men and women the same price if their circumstances are otherwise identical. We don’t think this is fair because we know women are safer drivers – this is why we have created drive like a girl. We fit a telematics box to your car that measures how you drive. This lets you prove to us that you ‘drive like a girl’ – if you do, you could get a discount after three months plus further savings at renewal.
