Will I get a discount if I have a Pass Plus?

Yes, we give a discount for Pass Plus. When you get your quote online, select Pass Plus on the ‘Do you have any additional driving qualifications?’, or inform the Customer Service advisor if you’re calling in. Please note: you will need to provide us with a copy of your Pass Plus Certificate.

Do you inform the police or other authorities about speeding instances?

While we encourage safe driving and advise you to drive at a speed that is appropriate for the road and driving conditions, we won’t inform the police if you drive over the speed limit. We won’t release your driving information to any authorities unless we have your permission or we are required to do so by law, or we suspect fraud or attempted fraud.

Can other people drive my car?

Only if:

  • They are a named driver on your policy, or
  • Their own insurance policy includes cover for driving other cars.

If someone, who is not a named driver on your policy has an accident while driving your car, they will need to claim on their own insurance policy.

Am I covered to drive other cars?

No – our policies don’t cover you to drive other cars, other than a courtesy car provided to you under the approved repairer scheme, if your car is damaged following an insured loss. Full details of your cover can be found in your Car Insurance Schedule in Your Portal.

Will I be penalised for bad driving?

We encourage and reward safe driving. Whilst we will not fine you, please be aware that dangerous driving could prevent you from getting a premium discount at renewal. Persistent or excessive speeding can also lead to cancellation of the policy – for further information, please refer to your Private Car Policy Document in Your Portal.

What should I do if there is not enough money in my account to pay the direct debit this month?

We can suspend your agreement for a maximum of 7 days. As soon as we take the payment your instalment plan will continue as normal, so you need to be aware that you may need to make two payments in one calendar month. We will only suspend your agreement once. Any further problems with payment will lead to your policy being cancelled.

Can I park my car somewhere other than the registered address overnight?

Yes, you can park your car at a different address to the one registered on the policy but the address registered on the policy must be where the car is normally kept overnight.

Remember that it is a condition of your policy that you confirm the address where your car is normally kept overnight. If we can show (using the data from your black box) that you are regularly parking somewhere else, we will contact you and the policy could be cancelled.

Do I have to pay for the black box?

The cost of the black box and its fitting is included in your premium.

However, if your policy is cancelled and a black box has already been fitted to your car, or had been fitted to a car you previously insured with us, you will have to pay an administration fee of £80.

Insurance Premium Tax will be charged at the appropriate rate.

What if my car is modified?

No – we don’t provide cover for cars that have been modified (other than by the manufacturer or for a disability). Please contact us if you’re unsure whether a particular alteration to your car is classed as a modification.
